1% of state's soybeans planted

There were 1.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending April 6, according to the first weekly crop progress report of the season issued Monday.


Statewide, the average temperature was 47.2 degrees, 0.1 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 3.39 inches, 2.71 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 11 percent short, 54 percent adequate, and 34 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 31 percent short, 45 percent adequate, and 23 percent surplus.


Soybeans planted reached 1 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 2 percent poor, 35 percent fair, 55 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
