Duffy remembered for love of farming

PONTIAC – A longtime volunteer who served on the Livingston County Farm Bureau Board for more than 30 years is being remembered for her love of farming.

Rosie Duffy passed away Sunday at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac at the age of 90. Duffy was recognized for her contributions to the Ag in the Classroom fundraiser and received the Volunteer of the Year award in Livingston County back in 2007. Duffy was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, the St. Mary’s Women’s Guild and a participant in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Perpetual Adoration.

Duffy worked on the farm her whole life with her husband, Jim, and also worked part-time as a beautician. She graduated from Pontiac Township High School and the University School of Beauty in Bloomington.

Funeral services are planned for Thursday (Mar. 8) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac starting at 11 a.m. with burial following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation is planned for today (Wednesday) from 4-7 p.m. at Duffy Funeral Home with the Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
