Conservation family night held

There was something of interest for all ages during an Ag and Conservation Family night event held at Illinois Central College’s East Peoria campus.

Visitors received an up-close look of many farming practices and technologies to improve soil health and protect water quality on their farms. A tour featured conservation drainage equipment, a constructed wetland, cover crop plots and even a soil pit.

Those attending had plenty of time to ask questions and connect with the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership, Illinois Central College and the Illinois Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, along with plenty of family-friendly activities.

Members of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association demonstrated an agriculture drainage tile and water and sediment control basin installation. Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership hosted a rainfall simulator.
