Hopkins receives Service to Ag award

Alan Hopkins of Normal, IL, has received the Service to Agriculture Award, the top citation to a non-manager/appraiser presented by the Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Making the presentation was Russ Hiatt, AFM, ARA, Chapter immediate-past president.  It was presented at the ISPFMRA’s annual meeting held in Peoria February 6.

In introducing Hopkins to the audience, Hiatt cited his long career in the ag chemical/seed industry. Recently retired from Pioneer/Corteva after 35-plus years, Hopkins started working in the industry upon graduating from Southern Illinois University. Over those years he served as a territory manager, product agronomist, area sales manager and farm manager coordinator. “His service to clients has been the epitome of what industry/client relationships should be,” Hiatt said in his comments.

The Service award has been given since 1940 and has included government officials, media personalities, heads of agricultural organization, university staff and faculty, and Extension professionals.
