IL Corn lists '22 accomplishments
BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Corn had a great 2022, constantly working to help position farmers for growth.
Recently, ICGA executive director Rodney Weinzierl shared some of the top accomplishments from the past year.
- Farming practice adoptions: The Precision Conservation Management crew signed-up over 190,000 acres late in the year. In addition to that, a cover crop program was implemented, setting the stage for climate smart proposals.
- Post Application Crop Insurance product: This was approved early in the year and expanded to include the entire state. Weinzierl considers it a good product that helps build relationships with conservation groups, getting them to understand what we are trying to do in crop insurance.
- Senate introduction of the Next Generation Fuels Act: Plenty of work went into this effort. It was introduced back in July and the bill will have to be re-introduced. They did pick up two additional Senators. This goes with the House bill that Cheri Bustos introduced.
- 50th anniversary of ICGA: A special anniversary event was held in August. Weinzierl considers it quite an achievement for the organization.
