Illinois stocks, acreage info
USDA released information on both acreage and grain stocks in the June 30 reports and the following is information for Illinois.
ILLINOIS JUNE ACREAGE:
Corn: Planted area, at 11.2 million acres, is down 1 percent from 2020. Harvested area for grain, at 11.0 million acres, is down 1 percent from last year.
Soybeans: Planted area, at 10.70 million acres, is up 4 percent from 2020. Harvested area, forecast at 10.65 million acres, is up 4 percent from the previous year.
Winter wheat: Planted area for 2021, estimated at 700,000 acres, up 23 percent from the previous year. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 650,000 acres, up 25 percent from previous year.
Hay: Harvested area of all hay is expected to total 420,000 acres, down 14 percent from 2020. This total includes 180,000 acres of alfalfa and 240,000 acres of all other hay.
ILLINOIS GRAIN STOCKS:
Corn stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 611 million bushels, down 12 percent from June 1, 2020. On-farm stocks totaled 195 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 416 million bushels. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 621 million bushels.
Soybean stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 123 million bushels, down 44 percent from June 1, 2020. On-farm stocks totaled 38.0 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 84.6 million bushels. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 117 million bushels.
Old crop all wheat stocks in all positions on June 1, 2021 totaled 10.5 million bushels, up 23 percent from June 1, 2020. On-farm stocks totaled 0.230 million bushels, while off-farm stocks totaled 10.3 million bushels. The March - May 2021 indicated disappearance is 6.94 million bushels.
