Lexington HS debuts ag addition

It is an exciting time for the agriculture department at Lexington High School as the new STEAM building addition will soon be fully operational.
A soft opening was held during the recent Lexington FFA auction and the move into the new space is expected to be completed in the next few weeks. Classes should begin inside the complex following spring break.
“I feel completely blessed by the community support as we’ve gone through this process for the last two years,” says Lexington FFA advisor and ag teacher Brian Wiltz.
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. The addition will not only house classroom and shop space but also art, marking a transition into new technologies and opportunities for students.
“We are trying to build off of a strong foundation since 1944 and put our eyes to the future for the kids of Lexington High School,” Wiltz adds.
Students like Lexington FFA President Preston Wiltz are beyond excited for the new space.
“I can’t wait to have our students be all in one building with seamless transitions between classes and not having to cross the street,” Wiltz said.
The architecture and thinking that went into this make it a one-of-a-kind building addition which truly makes sense.
Cori Pearce, a LHS senior and FFA treasurer, is excited to spend her last couple of months of high school in the new space learning new things.
“I’m also excited for my brother who is in seventh grade that he will get to experience this building.”
Hannah Botkin, FFA vice president, notes that all of the students have been excited and talking about the new building.
Another successful Lexington FFA auction is in the books. The 10th annual event was held Saturday evening at the high school with a free pork dinner followed by the silent and live auctions. They had items for everyone from baseball tickets to artwork.
“The whole community comes out and supports our school like only Lexington can,” said Mr. Wiltz.
