Rail Safety Week is here
This is Rail Safety Week and there is often an uptick in incidents on the rails this time of year, as farmers transport grain, kids head back to school, and parents juggle a range of commitments.
Last year, the US reported 2,194 rail grade crossing collisions, causing 274 fatalities and 658 injuries. In Canada, 232 railway crossing and trespassing incidents led to 66 fatalities and 43 serious injuries.
This year marks the CN Police's 100th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of Rail Safety Week.
