PONTIAC – Farmers from all over will have a chance to play in the dirt and choose an adventure when visiting the Precision Planting PTI Research Farm at Pontiac this summer.

Visitors will examine over 400 acres of test plots while hearing about tried-and-true practices which give the best yields and new opportunities out there which can make a difference in an operation.

“We do a plot tour for all growers and industry people that come out,” explained Andrew Feucht, product marketing specialist for Precision Planting.

In the ride and drive area, growers can actually hop into the cab of a tractor to experience new Precision Planting technologies while planting real seed.

“In addition to that, we’ve got a number of breakout sessions and a new thing we are doing this year is letting growers choose their own adventure,” adds Feucht.

Informational sessions range from liquid fertilizer application and grain bins to planter maintenance and how to better operate yield monitors.

“We want to try to make it relevant for everybody this year.”

This is the second year the PTI farm has a permanent air-conditioned building on site featuring classrooms, a large shop exhibit area and even a place to serve meals during meetings.

July 25 is the first day of the public farm experience days and the farm will operate for three weeks, five days a week. Feucht said there should be plenty of room for everyone to visit this summer.
