Silver carp removal completed

A record-breaking removal of invasive fish from the Illinois River has been completed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The department conducted a 10-day operation in the Starved Rock pool of the Illinois River, which resulted in the removal of 750,000 pounds of silver carp between late November and early December.

The 750,000 is reportedly a record for freshwater harvest in the nation.
