Trump imposes tariffs
An order was signed Saturday by President Trump imposing tariffs on imports coming from Canada, Mexico and China.
The move drew retaliation. Trump noted on social media over the weekend that the tariffs were necessary to protect Americans. He wants to reduce illegal immigration into the United States and do more to prevent the export and manufacturing of illicit fentanyl.
The most recent move by Trump imposes 25 percent tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico and 10 percent on goods from China.
Estimates from the National Retail Federation estimated additional costs for U.S. households each year if the tariffs are imposed. This includes housing materials, the price of cars, fresh food, home goods and energy.
