Weekly crop progress report


There were 4.3 days suitable for field work during the week ending October 29, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report released for Illinois this week.


Statewide, the average temperature was 57.6 degrees, 5.8 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.25 inches, 0.7 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 7 percent very short, 16 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 15 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 8 percent very short, 33 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus.


Corn harvested reached 81 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 77 percent. Soybeans harvested reached 89 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 82 percent.


Winter wheat planted reached 90 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 78 percent. Winter wheat emerged reached 63 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 50 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 1 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 20 percent excellent.
