Weekly crop report for 7-1
There were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending June 30, according to the weekly crop progress and weather report issued for Illinois Monday.
Statewide, the average temperature was 76.1 degrees, 1.8 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.07 inches, 0.13 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 30 percent short, 58 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 9 percent very short, 28 percent short, 61 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.
Corn silking reached 17 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 3 percent. Corn condition was rated 4 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 53 percent good, and 12 percent excellent.
Soybeans emerged reached 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 93 percent. Soybeans blooming reached 25 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 10 percent. Soybeans setting pods reached 1 percent. Soybeans condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 6 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 56 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
Winter wheat harvested for grain reached 89 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 68 percent.
